My train journey - A melting pot of attitudes

C10- Seat no. 50 was like this peek into what we call ''various attitudes''. Indeed very interesting helping me bide the 4 hours I was to en route Delhi from Chandigarh last evening. Having both the seats next to me vacant, I was in a position to relax and just observe with a soup-stick in my mouth intermittently.. ah! this is life... :). A bunch of boys and girls, back from a vacation in Himachal were seemingly excited and exuberant! The girl, the only one in 4 boys was busy trying to justify why some boys are so not worth it- they don't know where to draw the line...blah blah and she suddenly yells!!!Ooops!!! the co-passengers thought. Nah! was not as bad as it seemed, she only overreacted to her seat being taken by one of her mates while she was away to the restroom...!! Chhheeee. Then there were these two little girls who were busy with their hand tapping games and several riddles -- OK here is one... "Which bank has no money???""... the answer is.."A river bank".. Ha ha! well, i can laugh at it now or am i actually laughing at my own self albeit in retrospect. Then was this man, who had "Engineer" written all over his face, some 30 odd years into his life & the script of his frequent phone calls only re-iterated his profession. Then comes out the laptop and ear plugs into his ears!.. While I continued to look outside my window spotting the scattered lit bulbs between the darkness...I suddenly heard these bouts of laughter...haa haa, hoo hoo, hee hee... wondered what happened.. he was watching a comic flick and apparently did not realize his decibels because of the ear plugs. LOL. The couple behind me.. OK! So they had a new cell phone and a Nokia one.. and next time you want to know how many ring tones there are in it, and to rate them..pls ask me!! Phew, that was soo irritating :(. Taking the cake, were two ladies who actually totally dampened my mood... two sisters, about 50 years of age..and DAMN! refused to lift their mother's luggage who was accompanying them... and to top that showed absolutely no respect for age or relations in their communication...anyways, I can only observe. The role of an ADC.. Acc Devt. Coord.

Currently, in the shoes of the Mr. Growth in the territory, an ADC - its fun..its more my kind of work! I have been enjoying it for it marketing essence. Requires me to be out in the field but I get to look at the market in a different light. Infact the week just flew past.. worked with advertising companies, outdoor vendors..what I enjoy most is I have money to spend...though not on myself. There are constraints in what I am allowed to do and what I am not but yes, its a positive beginning. More than anything else, Vodafone's splashing triggers me!! Let's see how much of it can I replicate in my territory with Pepsi!! Presently, also looking forward to the longish weekend. Going home and have some excitement planned.

Victorious~

India-Aus Semi Final, Durban, TT,Sept..23rd, 07 What a way to get there! What a way... this game of cricket was one of the most aggresive I have ever watched. The best part was the almost non chalant aggression displayed by each Man in Blue! They seem to have learnt just about the right things from the seniors, whose absense seemed to be the biggest refresher here. Somehow the last over of Joginder Sharma seemed be fated to go down in history as one of those instances of vesting faith in your team-members when the whole world things otherwise!.. Great Show...Starting as a pessimist, who had written India off this TT series... I happily mince my words and impatiently wait for the India Pakistan Final. Its on Monday, and after long I can't wait for Monday to come. Yeh dil maange more....

Hutch - Vodafone..Painting the town Red

I have to also add that I simple love the way Hutch is carrying along with their re-branding efforts. Splashing the red and covering the pink mania well! I specially like how they have retained some of the critical brand elements - specially the DOG, infact thats the only one retained... The ad is simple and fab. Also apparent is how they are erecting hoardings/signage anywhere and everywhere next to any AIRTEL signage- even if that means its a textile shop they oblige! I am surely looking forward to following this entire effort. :)

Thums Up!....Bourne Ultimatum

This work day finally concluded in a good decision to go watch the Bourne Ultimatum. I did not remember much of the two prequels I had seen but the movie was gripping and smart enough to keep an amateur buff like me at the edge of her seat! Flitting eyeballs, a racing background score, and fine cinematography made the movie worth the money and time! And indeed a nice way to end the movie...subtle ...the swim and the smile!! Later, went to Saagar Ratna to have a late grub...ended up having Dahi Badas, followed it up with Meetha Paan... in true UP style.

Will I ever get lucky...?

Life has taken that last pound of flesh for every windfall. In one way or the other I end up paying through my nose. On the face it seems like a fortune sine die, but I know I have never had something in life without losing another... let me not delve into this philosophy too much.. Just this silly incident today at the dinner party in Mohali Club. It had been more than a year since I played Tambola. Tried playing today again thinking my luck might have changed and I ll win atleast a ''line'' if not full house. I mean kabhi to kuch different karo. Tried with three different tickets and even once I did not get anything. Ha ha... but looking at the funnier side... not ALL but me were winners anyways!.. :D...so hope floats.

a month's sabatical...

Discovered i have had nothing to write in a month..is that true? Well, not that anything has motivated me. Ups and downs, rights and wrongs...so many emotions have been criss-crossing each other that now it all seems like an entangled portion of a thread of cotton lest it would have disentangled with ease. Maybe its how I am looking at my life these days. Will this list of To-Dos ever end? Professional - Personal, they all seem to summon an agenda!! Phew.... At work I can now say i have the hang of things, now supposed to tell myself i am at least a spec better than where I started. Went through the whole RA (route agent aka driver salesperson) stint and then got promoted to being a CE (Customer Executive) which I am today. I actually have some 6 sectors across the whole of Chandigarh, which are supposed to be my markets, i am supposed to know all shop keepers and deal with any issues that may arise- a walking talking bible of these markets-- learn the mechanics, understand what is apparent and try to change it too.. testing all my faculties, sales, marketing, and manpower too... it is definitely very challenging and interesting but need to still get under the skin of things and look at the bigger picture which i am perhaps still missing, getting too involved with the granularities. I guess there is some learning here too. I can say I already have a few things in mind, but somehow I am unable to unfreeze the frozen budgets to melt in my favour! Another learning... :) I am also nearing my mid year appraisal here at the Unit... so I better have a LOT to say. Personally, I really think I am enriching myself. I think I have now encountered all possible types people and problems and have a better grip on the dark side of life. Well, if you are a relative reading my piece- PLS dont fret and in the curiosity pick up the phone and call my parents to ask if I am OK, yes I am :) and if you are a friend- call me I will give u all the dump and then laugh it off... some friends have been doing that I am ever so grateful to them. Apart from that, these days am also trying to sort out a close friend's problems and thinking for her... hope I am thinking right and that everything turns our right for her, coz she is really a very special friend. Have been going to Delhi quite often and just love being home..Mom & Dad are ever so so loving and they never seem to have enough of me... I reciprocate. Even my brother, is growing up and everytime I go back home I see he has become much more independent and smarter... he is such a darling. Have been missing so many important things at home... staying away keeps u away from things you need to know... never got to know my mom was undergoing medication for some serious problems.. hated the fact i could not be there when she must have gone to the hospital for a test - and then waited anxiously for her report... scares me even more... hope everything is ok. Getting to the lighter side... watched Chak De- twice- and really liked it. The first time with office crowd and then with family and guess what I cried the second time round :D... after analysis of why that happened, I discovered that the first time I was sitting next to my boss....lol. Waise the movie was very nice and i loved te repartees of all the kudis... i think well done...plus the after effects, we won a series... pls someone make another Lagaan, we might just have lost the NATWEST series by the time I finish writing this... Till now I have been around quite a bit in Chandigarh so for those of you, looking to stop by please contact me.. i can take u around - for free. Another craze these days is Sa re ga ma.. i am avidly following it and enjoying every moment. Infact my territory is sponsoring - Awaaz Punjab Di, which is a local take -off on the Indian Idol. SO i got to see the internal working of these shows, the madening crowd, the enthu crowd. Some Punjabi women were dressed to kill.. well i dont know KILL who...hehe.. well that’s the charm of Punjab -- what u wear is watever u possess... Chalo..abhi baad mein more
